Nearly 2 years ago I welcomed my beautiful baby boy into the world. I’m an older mom (well into my 30s) and had already spent several years building my freelance writing business. I was so excited to become a mom and couldn’t wait to see how motherhood would change my perspective and creativity.
But what I wasn’t prepared for was how motherhood would completely change my schedule…
I mean, I knew things would be challenging, but I’m someone who usually has life pretty well put together.
I’m organized and ambitious…
I have a supportive husband and family nearby to help…
I thought I would rest and snuggle with my adorable little guy for a few weeks, and then get back into the swing of things. But I had a colicky baby, and for 6 months I was cluster feeding every 20 minutes, totally stressed, and unimaginably sleep-deprived!
I reached levels of exhaustion I didn’t even know where possible (and I’m sure you more experienced parents reading this are chuckling over my ignorance right now!). I was lucky if I got more than 15 minutes to myself, let alone sitting down to focus on client work.
But my copywriting career was going so good before baby! And I didn’t want to risk losing clients or falling behind…
I knew I needed to find a way to make things work or I would be starting from scratch once my baby was a little older and my schedule freed up. I also knew my husband and I would not be able to keep up the lifestyle we had created without my income.
During late-night nursing sessions, as I stared at a glowing cell phone screen in the dark, I started seeing ads for copywriting software that could “write better and faster with the help of robots.” I was really skeptical… I didn’t want a machine to write my copy! I mean, that’s MY job! And I’m pretty good at it!
Plus, I had heard all kinds of horror stories about how these AI writing softwares spit out gibberish, or worse – plagiarized content. But I was desperate! I had a choice: Give up my business or find a way to make it work with my new mom reality.
So, I decided to try out artificial intelligence. Here’s my honest Jasper AI review of how it’s helped me keep my business going, and even grow it, during a challenging time in my life.
What is Jasper AI?
Jasper AI software is the cutting-edge answer to content creation! This copywriter software uses natural language processing and artificial intelligence to help you write copy faster.
How?
As the human writer, you put in certain details (called inputs) to give Jasper AI some background information (think of it like giving a writing assistant a project brief).
Jasper AI analyzes this information and pulls information from the internet to generate a well-written and unique piece of content. You can then tweak and edit the content as needed – but the bulk of the writing is already done for you!
Jasper AI is designed to help with all stages of the copywriting process:
- Brainstorming and coming up with ideas
- Research (to some extent – more on this in a bit)
- Generating headlines
- Writing long and short form copy
- Matching brand tone of voice
- Basic search engine optimization (there’s a Surfer SEO integration if you need more robust SEO features)
- Jasper Art (for creating totally custom images based on whatever description you can come up with!)
Even if you’re the best writer in the world, Jasper AI can save you time on all of these tasks!
Jasper AI Review: The Best Copywriter Software on the Market
Copywriting software has come a long way in recent years. While there are still some that are little more than glorified text editors, there are now a number of truly impressive AI-powered solutions on the market.
If you’re comparing copywriting tools, don’t overlook Jasper AI!
I joined early on when it was still called Jarvis AI or conversion.ai…
And from the start, I was blown away by how natural and well-written the content was that Jasper AI generated.
I was also surprised by how easy it was to use Jasper AI. I’m not a tech expert, and I was able to get the hang of it quickly. The user interface is simple and straightforward, and on my first attempts, I was able to get Jasper AI to generate content that needed only minor edits.
When you log into the software, you’re greeted by a simple dashboard. By navigating to the templates, you can see all of the different types of content that Jasper AI can help you write. At the time of writing this, there are 60 templates that cover all sorts of copywriting needs, from social media posts to video sales letters!
You simply select the template you need, fill out the required input fields, and hit generate. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a finished piece of content that’s ready to be published!
Some of my favorite, most-used templates are:
- Boss Mode Documents (this is the longform copywriting template I use to write all mine and my clients blog posts – including this one!)
- Content Improver template
- PAS Framework template
- Blog Post Outline template
- Sentence Expander template
- Video Titles template
You simply select the template you need, fill in the required information, and hit “generate.” Then do a little tweaking to get it just right, and you’re done! It’s really that easy!
Sometimes knowing which templates to use can be the hardest part. I often play with a few to achieve different results. For example, I create social media captions for some of my clients, and I’ve found that the Photo Post Caption (the template for creating social media content), doesn’t really fit posts coming from a business. They tend to be first-person.
So instead, I’ll try using the Quora Answers or AIDA Framework templates to get a relavant and engaging caption.
I have NOT used all the templates. Not even close!
If I had more time, I would love to test every single one of them out, but being a busy new mom doesn’t leave much room for that…
The majority of my work is blogs, social media content, email campaigns, and website copy. I’ve found the templates that work best for my needs and I stick to those. But with all the templates, I’m sure I’m missing out on some hidden gems.

But what I love most is that they’re always open to feedback! Dave Rogenmoser, the CEO, runs the official Jasper AI Facebook Group and he’s always interacting with users, answering questions, and taking suggestions.
From my interactions with Dave and his team, it’s clear that the user experience is a top priority for them. They’re truly committed to making Jasper AI the best copywriting tool on the market.
And from the minute I signed up, I could tell this was a premium product. The branding, the website, the user interface, everything was top-notch.
But it’s not just a pretty face! Jasper AI delivers on its promises. It’s an incredibly powerful tool that has helped me write better copy, faster.
I haven’t even considered dabbling in some of the other AI-powered copywriting tools out there. I’m just so happy with Jasper AI that I haven’t felt the need to.
Jasper AI saved my writing career! I’m a busy mom, and I don’t have time to waste. That’s why I love it. When my baby was so little, I felt totally overwhelmed with my workload. But Jasper AI helped me get my work done quickly and efficiently, without sacrificing quality.
Blog posts that used to take me anywhere from 6 hours to a few days now take me under an hour (I’ve written some in as little as 15 minutes!). That speed and efficiency has allowed me to take on MORE clients and still have time for my family.
Now, I don’t generate the ai content and just hit publish. I put my own spin on things to make sure the writing is as good (better actually!) then before, but the majority of the heavy lifting is done by Jasper AI.
One other thing to note is the research (which I mentioned earlier). I’ve seen some other Jasper AI reviews complaining about the accuracy of facts and statistics. That hasn’t been a big problem for me.
My clients are in the home service industry, and this copywriting software is able to source factually accurate info about how plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems work. I can usually tell when the research is off, because of my background knowledge in these topics. And in those cases I just do a quick Google search to double check. It takes me less than a minute, and I haven’t had any issues with inaccuracies in the final product that I’ve sent to clients.
I do know that, like other AI copywriting tools, this one pulls information from the internet that’s slightly older. But the OpenAI API platform that Jasper AI is built on had an update, and now includes info from as recent as 2021.
So if your content creation requires tons of historical dates, statistics, or other time-sensitive info, you might have to plug-in the right information or do a round of fact-checking after Jasper AI generates the first draft. But if you’re in a more evergreen industry, then this copywriter software is hard to beat!
Pros and Cons of Jasper AI Writing
I’ve already covered a lot of the pros, but I want to reiterate and expand on a few of the most important ones. If I had to list all the benefits of using an AI writing tool (and more specifically, Jasper AI), it would look something like this:
- Easy-to-use interface
- Tons of features and templates
- Regular updates and improvements
- Surfer SEO Integration
- Outstanding customer service
- Generates high-quality content in seconds
- Can write about niche topics with a high degree of accuracy
- Virtually plagiarism-free
The cons are few and far between, but I want to be transparent and mention a couple things that might not sit well with everyone. Here they are:
It’s not perfect (no copywriting software is!)
Sometimes the research is off or you’ll have to do a quick Google search to double check the accuracy of dates… Sometimes it does create sentences that are a little choppy or could be worded better. But that’s why you have the option to rephrase the text or use the Content Improver template to clean it up.
The word length for outputs is short
Even when using the the Boss Mode Document (sort of like Google Docs, but you just hit CTRL+J and it keeps writing for you) or the new One-Shot Blog Post template, I feel like sometimes the outputs aren’t as long as I would like.
You can definitely pad them out a bit with your own information or by using the Sentence Expander, Paragraph Generator or Command template, but if you’re looking for an AI copywriting tool that automatically generates 1000 words at a time, you might be disappointed.
But this isn’t totally a bad thing, because sometimes having the shorter outputs allows me to add my own creative spin on things and really make the content my own as it’s being created.
There are occasional glitches
Technology is a blessing and a curse at times. Even the best copywriting software like Jasper AI has the occasional glitch.
I’ve had text that was being generated appear in reverse order, I’ve had things freeze up on me, and I’ve had some outputs be identical to the input I gave it. But these glitches are rare. Usually refreshing the page, or giving Jasper AI a more specific input will fix the issue.
There’s a cap on how many words you can generate
I am grandfatherd in with a Boss Mode plan, so this really isn’t a problem for me. But for anyone joining now, there are limits to how many words you can generate per month, based on what you pay.
Whether you choose the Starter Plan, Boss Mode, or a customized Business Plan, there’s always going to be a limit on how many words you can generate. And the pricing is reflective of that.
But I understand why they did this – some users were taking advantage of the platform. They were sharing their login with other writers on their team and generating millions of words per month.
Here’s what Jasper AI’s CEO had to say about the update:
Users were supposed to pay for additional team members (I believe they’re called “seats”) to do this. But a lot of people weren’t. So by capping the number of words that can be generated by each user, it protects Jasper AI’s interests while still providing an affordable solution for freelance writers and small businesses.
I’m just a team of one, and like I said, I’m grandfathered in with an Unlimited Plan, so this really isn’t an issue for me. But it’s something to keep in mind if you run an agency and need your team to be able to generate hundreds of thousands (or even millions!) of words each month.
It’s not a human (obviously)
I hate the idea of robots taking over our jobs. I’m a big advocate for the importance of human connection, and I think we need to be careful about how much we rely on technology.
That being said, I also think there’s a time and a place for everything. And when it comes to copywriting, Jasper AI is my go-to copywriter software.
It doesn’t replace the need for human copywriters altogether. In fact, I think it actually creates more opportunities for copywriters because now we can focus on the bigger picture and come up with strategies, rather than getting bogged down in the nitty-gritty of writing each and every word.

Join the Jasper AI Facebook Group
Th Jasper AI Facebook Group is an amazing resource, not just for getting your questions answered, but also for seeing what other people are doing with Jasper AI.
You can get new ideas for inputs, learn about different features that you didn’t even know existed, and find out about any glitches or problems people are having.
There’s also a user-created community, Blogs by Jarvis – Blogging with Jarvis (Jasper.ai). There are lots of great resources and tips in there too.
Explore the Jasper AI Bootcamp
Learn the fundamentals (and more!) by going through the Jasper AI Bootcamp. This is an online course that will teach you everything you need to know about using Jasper AI for your copywriting business. The full Jasper University playlist is also available on YouTube.

Play with Recipes
Both the Jasper AI team and users of the software have created different Recipe Templates that you can use to accelerate your writing process.
A Recipe is basically an outline of pre-determined inputs and outputs that you can use to generate copy for a specific type of project, like product reviews, podcast episodes, love letters, short video scripts, and a bunch of other unique content ideas. They’re great for when a standard Template doesn’t exist.
Some Recipes are shown in the Bootcamp, but new user-generated Recipes are also posted regularly in the Facebook group.
I think you have to be a Boss Mode user and have access to the Document editor in order to use Recipes, but the upgrade is so worth it!
Watch YouTube Tutorials
If you want to learn anything, and you’re a visual or auditory learner, YouTube is the place to go! The Jasper AI team has a bunch of great tutorials on their YouTube channel, but other users have created their own channels to show off the way they’ve optimized and customized the software to work for them.
How Much Is Jasper AI?
Jasper AI pricing is clearly outlined on their website. You can choose from 3 different subscription options:
- Starter Plan: Starts as low as $24 for 20,000 words generated per month. This would be great for small business owners who can’t afford a full-time copywriter or for small-scale bloggers who want to outsource some of their content creation.
- Boss Mode Plan: Starts as low as $49 for 50,000 words generated per month. With this subscription you get access to the Document Editor, which is a game-changer if you create longform content like blog posts, articles, or eBooks. Just hit compose and watch Jasper AI do its thing!
- Business Plan: This customized option is for agencies and teams that have a lot of users or need to generate a lot of words.

There’s also the Surfer SEO integration if you want to do keyword research and get SEO insights as you write. You can test it out for just $1 the first month.
And finally, the Jasper AI creators have released the new Jasper Art feature for $20 per user per month for unlimited use.
I did upgrade for the Surfer SEO integration (although I find there’s a really big learning curve and it may not be necessary for the type of client work I do…) and I have never used Jasper Art.
From what I’ve seen, Jasper Art also has a big learning curve and takes awhile to get the results you’re after. It really struggled with hands and eyes from what I saw when it first released. There were some nightmare-inducing creations like this:

But it does sound like the developers have made some improvements. And I’ve seen some really fantastic results like this:

Yep! A robot created those! I actually saw a news article recently that an AI software won an art contest, and I can see why!
If you’re into graphic design, it could be a really cool tool to create social media images and other visuals for your blog or website.
For me, I’ll stick with Canva. I don’t have time to fiddle with Jasper Art (again, crazy busy new momma here!) and the copywriting work doesn’t usually include sourcing images or creating graphics. Canva has way more functionality in my opinion, since you have access to thousands of stock photos, text, elements and anything else you can think of to create unique graphics. It seems like Jasper Art only creates the art itself (no text or anything like that).
So I think for most writers, you can save the $20 bucks!
